On Saturday, February 10 from 5-8pm we will be hosting a ‘Bièrenissage’ to introduce our latest featured artist Kendra Boychuk whose artworks are now hanging in the taproom!
“My interests lie in all things created by Mother Earth, from clouds and ocean waves to ladybugs and little kids… all things beautiful and sublime,” says artist Kendra Boychuk. “I love the colours in the shadows, the smell of the forest after it rains and the sound of my feet thumping on the soft humus of a hiking trail. My artwork, I hope, reflects my reverence for these things.”
Kendra’s forte is portraiture, both human and animal. She is kept busy year-round with commissions and has spent some summers working as a portrait artist on the boardwalk in Old Montreal. She has created striking composite web images for Maisonneuve magazine and worked on many faux finis painting projects both in private homes and commercial spaces. She has collaborated on murals at Sainte Justine Children’s Hospital and CPE Dawson. She worked for several years as an art educator at Stewart Hall and has participated in the Art Rental Collection since then. Her work can be seen yearly in the NDG Art Hop and advertising for Fizz Mobile.
More recently her work has explored three dimensional spaces, creating huge leaf casts to be used as patio stones and pollinator/ bird baths. Another of her newer endeavours, dioramas, provide a way to examine the layered and skewed ways in which we process memories.
