Jam La Vie with Matt Rock

June 15 @ 5:00 pm 9:00 pm

Jam La Vie with Matt Rock

The organization Le Tournant, a crisis and suicide prevention center located in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. To mark this occasion, it is launching a tour of improvised musical evenings called Jam la vie.

The jam sessions, free for the public and participants, will take place throughout the year and will feature rock musician Matt Rock, a local artist, and his band. The concept is simple: amateur, or even professional musicians present at the evenings who volunteer, will be invited to take turns on stage for an improvised musical session with the band.

Why a jam? The original idea for Jam la vie came from Pierre-Yves L’Heureux, a member of Le Tournant’s Board of Directors: “I thought a jam was a good way to reach a part of the population that Le Tournant may not yet reach. The idea came to me in 2019, but the pandemic obviously put everything on hold, only to resurface at a particularly opportune moment, when a member of Le Tournant, Paul Sincennes, told me it would fit well with Le Tournant’s 40th anniversary.”

All are invited to come celebrate life and have a good time at these inclusive and festive evenings.

“We want to use this concept to develop Le Tournant’s visibility among as many people as possible in the areas we serve. But also, to make the resource even more accessible and to make people understand that there are no taboos in seeking help, that they should call us. The headliner of Jam la vie, Matt Rock, is a perfect example!” explains Lydie Elisha, CEO of Le Tournant.
