Born in Montréal, Multi-instrumentalist Pat Loiselle has been part of the blues and ‘roots’ music scene for more than 25 years. Starting out on guitar and harmonica, he was influenced by the blues greats: B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Sonny Boy Williamson, John Hammond Jr. to name a few.
Pat has performed with and recorded with numerous artists such as Kenny ‘Blues Boss’ Wayne, Janice Harrington, Stephen Barry, Micheal Jerome Browne, J-D Slim and has opened for many blues legends over the years: Robert Jr. Lockwood, Magic Slim, Little Charlie and The Nightcats, Junior Watson, Canada’s own Dutch Mason and Jack de Keyzer.
Some Festival performances over the years :
In the fall of 2015, Pat put out his long awaited first CD ‘Sonny Boy Gumbo’s Blues’, a diverse mix of gutbucket Blues, early R&B, original finger picking, Bluegrass-tinged originals featuring some of the best from the fertile Montreal scene. It’s been garnering some great reviews so far. A teacher as well, He put out an instructional DVD titled ‘Finger picking Blues & Traditional, teaching folk and blues standards ‘en Français’ available on Macbeth Music. In February 2017, Pat, along with Argentinian guitarslinger Martin Hury, won the honour of representing Québec in the prestigious International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee in the solo/duo category.
